Other Imani Track Club members turn in standout performances at the JOs.
KANSAS - Thousands competed but only a handful in each category stood on the podium to receive medals at the 51st USATF Hershey National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships at Rock Chalk Park in late July.
Imani’s Benjamin Harris made the cut, racing in the eight and under boys division. He finished second in the 200 meters with a blazing time of 29.13 seconds behind Noah Roberts of Quicksilver track club (28.11).
Later on, he teamed with Ashton Good III, Jeromy Powell Jr., Jalen Hunter, James Goodman III and Martin Esparza to place fourth in the 400 and 1600 meter relays with times of 58.77 and 4:65.1, respectively.
On the girls side, Miah Molette, competing in the girls 11-12 division, sprinted to fifth place in the 80-meter hurdles with a time of 12.97.
The team of 25 advanced to the JOs by finishing in the upper echelon at the SoCal Regional JO Trials.
